Carol Woods offers 24-hour Medicare-certified skilled nursing care in Chapel Hill, NC. Designed for comfort, autonomy, and excellence, our Health Center includes neighborhoods where residents receive personalized care in private or semi-private rooms. These living areas encourage comfort, connection, and a sense of belonging. The neighborhood includes five private rooms and one semi-private room, along with a shared sitting area and dining room. Care plans are tailored to individual needs and delivered by a dedicated team focused on promoting well-being, dignity, and connection.

Dining
In the Health Center, dining is both flexible and resident directed. Through the Dining Delights program, meals are served from a buffet cart in each neighborhood, allowing residents to make their selections at the time of service. Meals can be enjoyed in neighborhood dining rooms, and dietary needs are thoughtfully accommodated. This approach keeps mealtime personal, comforting, and easy to enjoy.

Skilled Nursing residents at Carol Woods have access to a variety of programs that foster connection, creativity, and daily engagement. From music therapy and therapeutic horticulture to seated fitness, cooking activities, and tech-based programs like It’s Never 2 Late®, offerings are designed to meet residents where they are. Social events, group discussions, and campus-wide concerts and lectures help maintain a sense of connection and community at every stage of care.


Pricing
Skilled Nursing at Carol Woods includes a base monthly fee of $2,657, plus a daily per diem of $132 to cover meals, medical care, transportation, and enrichment programming. Residents receive 15 credit days per year where the per diem is waived. This pricing replaces the standard Independent Living monthly fee upon transition to Skilled Nursing and reflects the higher level of clinical support and personalized care provided.
Frequently asked questions
Long-term or permanent Skilled Nursing care is only available to current Carol Woods residents whose needs have progressed beyond Assisted Living. All residents begin their journey with us in Independent Living either in our on-campus homes or as part of our Early Acceptance residency program.
However, short-term stays, such as rehabilitation after a hospital stay or respite care, are available to the general public.

Yes. Carol Woods is a dementia-inclusive community. Rather than separating residents based on diagnosis, we support individuals with cognitive changes in an integrated, compassionate setting.
The Health Center offers access to board-certified geriatricians, nurse practitioners, and licensed nursing staff. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy services are also available on site.
Yes. Meals are served from a buffet cart through the Dining Delights program, allowing residents to choose their meal at the moment. Dietary needs and preferences are accommodated.
