Generosity Makes a Difference

CHARITABLE GIVING

At Carol Woods, giving is central to who we are. The Carol Woods Charitable Fund was established by the Carol Woods Board of Directors to support the mission of Carol Woods to provide a safe, healthy and secure environment for people in their later years, as well as to engage in cooperative research, development and education in the field of aging. Through the Fund and Carol Woods, we support aging services, wellness, and equity through donations, time, and community partnerships, strengthening our mission and creating meaningful impact across the region.

Assign Your Gift a Purpose

CHOOSE YOUR PREFERRED FUND

There are six funds within the Carol Woods Charitable Fund, each serving a different purpose. Donors are encouraged to designate their tax-deductible gifts to one or more of these six funds, described below.

This fund provides financial support to residents that need Carol Woods services and have outlived their resources or have experienced financial difficulties beyond their control.

This fund encourages staff to further their personal and professional growth through higher education, vocational training, and professional development opportunities. It also helps build the workforce pipeline by exposing students and others to careers in the field of aging.

This fund provides support to our staff who face unexpected hardships that place financial stress on them and their families. These hardships can include major life events such as an accident, home displacement, illness, or loss of life. This fund supports our staff at their time of greatest need.

Contributions to this fund allow Carol Woods to improve and upgrade the campus beyond budget allocations. The enhancements this fund has made possible include the Brashear front entrance garden, resident Rose Garden, the Millstone Garden, the Blue Heron Terrace, the Dog Park, the croquet and bocce ball courts, and the labyrinth.

Contributions to this fund are used to establish and support programs that improve the lives of seniors in the greater community through research, community partnerships, advocacy, and training. Gifts have helped bring Charles House to campus and develop an innovative program for dementia inclusiveness.

This fund supports aspects of resident life at Carol Woods, including resident committee efforts of the Resident Association.

Giving in Action

STORIES

Carol Woods residents tutor local students, mentor young readers, and volunteer in nearby schools. Donations fund books, classroom resources, and school projects across Chapel Hill-Carrboro. Annual contributions to the Town and County expand senior programming and community outreach. Each story is a reflection of how this community gives back with purpose, compassion, and real impact.

Connecting with Our Community

Outreach

Carol Woods maintains strong ties with the broader Chapel Hill and Orange County communities. Residents and staff volunteer their time, serve on nonprofit boards, and support programs that benefit older adults. Our campus also hosts local events and provides space and resources for community organizations. Through ongoing outreach, we extend the spirit of service well beyond our campus.
