Plan Ahead with Purpose

Early Acceptance

Carol Woods’ Early Acceptance program lets future residents join our senior living community while continuing to live at home. Participants remain active in community life, get access to campus amenities and services, and retain their place on the Priority List. This approach offers both connection and security, giving individuals time to plan while knowing they belong to a community that values thoughtful transitions and long-term well-being.

First Step to Residency

Priority List

Joining the Priority List is the first step toward residency at Carol Woods and a requirement for Early Acceptance. To enroll, submit a Priority List Agreement and a $1,500 deposit, $1,000 of which is refundable or applied to your entrance fee. Your place on the list determines the timing of housing offers. Given the community’s popularity and long wait times, joining early ensures more options and flexibility as your needs evolve.

Frequently asked questions

The typical wait time for Early Acceptance is 9 years.

The Priority List is how you reserve your place for future residency at Carol Woods. Early Acceptance is one of the options available through that list, just like an apartment, cottage, or townhome, each with its own wait time.

Joining Early Acceptance does not affect your position on the priority list.  Once you join Early Acceptance, you will keep your place on the priority list as you continue waiting for your on-campus residence preference to become available.

After waiting on the Priority List until your name is reached, you may receive an offer for Early Acceptance. If you choose to reserve that spot, you’ll complete the application process and, once officially accepted, pay the entrance fee and begin the ongoing monthly fee. Your Early Acceptance benefits start at that time.

Yes, you can decline an offer for Early Acceptance, without penalty.

Early Acceptance residents enjoy full access to campus events, campus activities, healthcare services, including therapies and eventual entry into Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing.

Yes, Early Acceptance residents may move directly to Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing, assuming such a move is consistent with their health needs.

If it has been a few years since you joined Early Acceptance, Carol Woods reserves the right to request an updated financial and cognitive screen.  The updated screens will guide our discussion regarding the best type of on-campus residence for you.
