The Early Acceptance program offers a unique option for residency at Carol Woods.

Instead of moving immediately to the Carol Woods campus, Early Acceptance residents live off campus in their own homes with the security of knowing that they are already accepted into the community. This program also allows flexibility for its participants to delay a move to independent living or move directly into a higher level of support.

Participation in the Early Acceptance program only is offered to members of the Carol Woods Priority List (waitlist). Once accepted into the Early Acceptance program, residents keep their name on the Priority List for a future on-campus residence and have available to them the use of all campus amenities and services. Due to the popularity of this program, it is important to plan ahead.

As an Early Acceptance resident, you will have:

Security in knowing that a change in health status won’t preclude you from moving onto campus.
Access to health services provided at Carol Woods’ primary care clinic and some on-site specialized services.
Access to Carol Woods’ Medicare-covered outpatient physical, speech and occupational therapies.
Lifetime access to Carol Woods’ Assisted Living and Health Center for respite, rehab or permanent long-term care needs.
15 free days in Assisted Living and/or the health center accumulated each year, with additional days provided at discounted rates.
Medicare and third-party insurance processing by the Carol Woods Insurance Department.
Access to Carol Woods’ fitness center, pool, art studio and craft shop.
Annual visit with a Carol Woods staff member.

Staying Connected

Early Acceptance residents have membership in the Carol Woods Resident Association and are welcome to participate in all social, educational, recreational, spiritual and cultural offerings at Carol Woods. Weekly events like the Wednesday Evening Concerts and Thursday Evening Lectures or participation in a club or committee are great ways for Early Acceptance residents to join their friends and fellow residents that live at Carol Woods.

Early Acceptance residents also use a secure, password-protected web portal to access weekly calendars, menus, resident and staff directories and internal email communications to keep them right in the action of daily campus life.

Early Acceptance residents’ primary residence must be within the 15 mile radius surrounding the Carol Woods campus. Currently, that geographic area includes Orange County and portions of Durham and Chatham counties.
