CROP WALK


This is the first notice for the Crop Walk that will begin at the Carrboro Town Commons at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 21. Many churches and other organizations in Chapel Hill support this effort to alleviate hunger both locally and nationally. Those wishing to give a donation could split their gift, helping Carol Woods be well represented as a supporter. Volunteers to walk the route from Carrboro Commons, through parts of Chapel Hill and back, are welcome.

    Isabel Geffner, Director of Communications, and Dr. Eve Lausier, Director of Clinical Services will share information about their unique approach to healthcare and how it can make a difference in your life. Providers at the center integrate the best of Western scientific medicine with proven complementary therapies to address the whole person--body, mind, spirit, and community. The staff includes integrative physicians, health coaches, nurses, health psychologists, acupuncturists, nutritionists, massage and bodywork therapists, exercise physiologists, providers of complementary therapies and self-care education.This information session is free and refreshments will be provided. Information and bus sign up are at the desk in front of Many Ann's desk. Deadline to sign up for the bus is March 12. The Carol Woods bus will cost $7.50. A minimum of 10 people is required.

  • 7:30 PM THURSDAY EVENING PROGRAM (Assembly Hall) Dr. Jaroslav Folda, Professor Emeritus of Art History, UNC/CH, will speak on “Byzantine Icons and Italian Panel Paintings in the Thirteenth Century.”
    The art of the High Middle Ages in Europe produced a veritable cornucopia of exquisite objects. Our speaker will comment on some icons and altar pieces in terms of form and function, meaning and context. You will be treated to an actual demonstration of icon illumination. Not to be missed.
