About Chapel Hill & the Triangle
Research & Education
As the 77 million Boomers head into retirement, one of the biggest challenges our society faces is having enough people to care for the aging population. At Carol Woods, we have always been passionate about providing excellent care to older adults. As a national leader in the field of aging, we are not only committed to our residents, we are also committed to training the next generation of physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, social workers and students in other fields to work with older adults. One way we do this is by welcoming student interns every semester.
Additionally, our resident Research Advisory Committee reviews several requests every year to conduct research among Carol Woods’ residents. Even though participation in any research project is voluntary, the committee applies rigorous criteria in deciding which projects are even worth advertising among residents.
Finally, Carol Woods was recently awarded a grant by the Duke Endowment to bring together leaders in North Carolina to develop a collaborative model of service delivery for older adults, especially during times of transition.
