Carol Woods’ residents love sharing their 120-acre campus with wildlife, both big and small. As a backyard wildlife habitat and a bird sanctuary, Carol Woods is home to several native species. On a recent bird walk, the bird watching committee spotted 25 types of birds, including chickadees, red-bellied woodpeckers and yellow-rumped warblers.
Recently, residents were delighted when an albino deer was born in a wooded area of campus. The albino is often spotted near cottages, eating and drinking with other deer.
Pets are also welcome at Carol Woods. Many residents have dogs or cats, and the community shares ownership of a parrot, two aviaries and some tropical fish. However, Carol Woods does limit the number of pets a resident may have to two (2) and present residents who wish to acquire a pet must confer with Management before committing to this.
