The Carol Woods Clinic is open five days per week, from 8:30 a.m. 5 p.m. Physicians from UNC Hospital are scheduled in the clinic during the week, and 93% of our residents use one of these geriatricians as their primary care physician. If a resident needs to see a specialist, the clinic will coordinate a referral.
Additionally, Carol Woods employs a full-time geriatric nurse practitioner, several Registered Nurses, a triage nurse, and a Clinic Director. A full complement of physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists are available through the on-site Rehabilitation Department. This enables Carol Woods’ residents to receive top-notch health care without leaving campus. Experience has shown that residents will use the clinic more frequently because of the convenience of being on-site and part of the monthly fee.
The clinic also provides laboratory services, monitoring vital signs, selected immunizations, counseling, a weekly blood pressure clinic and health education. Dermatology, podiatry, audiology, massage therapy and a clinical psychologist are also available in the clinic for a fee.
Residents indicate that one of the best services offered at Carol Woods is the filing of medical insurance claims. Since the clinic is Medicare certified, Carol Woods will file residents’ Medicare and supplemental insurance.
