DEPARTMENT OF NURSING

This department's staff assists residents in the health center and buildings designated as Adult Care Homes or Assisted Living.  All positions in these departments have common requirements.   We are looking for those who have: 

  • The passion for the care of the older adult;
  • The ability to remain calm and reassuring to residents and/or others in an emergency or very busy time.
  • The willingness to smile and greet people in a positive way;
  • The flexibility when on the spot changes may be necessary for resident care purposes;
  • The willingness to seek help from others when needed to solve concerns in a positive manner and; and
  • The ability to admit an error and learn from it.

We staff three eight-hour shifts each day:  Day Shift 7AM to 3:30PM; Evening Shift 3PM to 11:30PM; and Night Shift 11PM to 7:30AM.  All shifts provide differential pay in addition to the base hourly rate on weekends and holidays; Evening and Night Shifts also provide a weekday differential.


CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT, CNA1

Additional Requirements:   Current listing as NA1 on NC Department of Facilities Services Nurse Aide 1 Registry without substantiated findings; CPR Certification – Adult Module (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)

Hours:

Day Shift

  • Part-time: 16 hours/pay period, every other weekend
  • Relief: Unscheduled basis in our Relief Pool as our needs meet your availability

Evening Shift

  • Full-Time: 80 hours/pay period, every other weekend
  • Relief Pool:  Unscheduled basis in our Relief Pool as our needs meet your availability

    Night Shift
  • Full-time: 64 hours/pay period every other weekend
  • Part-time: 32 hours/pay period, every other weekend (2 positions)
 

REGISTERED NURSE

Additional RequirementsCurrent unencumbered North Carolina License to practice as Licensed Registered Nurseor Licensed Practical Nurse; CPR Certification – Adult Module (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)

Hours:

Day Shift
Full-time: 80 hours per pay period, to divide time between Assisted Living and Health Center.  Occasional evening hours, limited on call but the ability to be flexible with schedule.  Minimum of 2 years experience.

 
CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT/MEDICATION TECHNICIAN, ASSISTED LIVING

Additional Requirements:
 
Current listing as Nurse Aide on the NC Department of Facilities Services Nurse Aide Registry without substantiated findings; North Carolina certification as a Medication Technician in Adult Care Facilities without substantiated findings; CPR Certification – Adult Module (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).

Hours:

Evening Shift - Every other weekend (16 hours)
Night Shift - Unscheduled basis in our Relief Pool as our needs meet your availability.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST/REHAB COORDINATOR

Rehab Coordinator- Opportunity to provide therapy and direct a small Rehab Department in a unique retirement setting.  Carol Woods, an accredited CCRC with a national reputation, serves 450 independent, assisted living and nursing center residents.  Responsibilities include providing inpatient therapy for a Medicare certified nursing center and outpatient therapy for other residents under Part B of Medicare; oversight of rehab services, including supervision of staff, program planning, teaching resident classes, and providing staff education.   Time allocation between treatment and Department coordination is approximately 70-30.   This position provides on-going interaction with residents and staff that allows one to develop long term relationships.  Our setting stresses resident centered care and is not driven by productivity quotas.  This position provides diverse activities and interaction with all segments of the community.

 

We are looking for a therapist with a current NC license and experience with the geriatric population, who also brings enthusiasm and passion to long-term care. The position offers a full benefit program including health, life, and dental insurance, retirement, and a stipend for our Children’s Center. 

 

Hours: 40 hours M-F with Saturday coverage every 5th week. 

 

UNIT SECRETARY (RELIEF)

We are seeking a person with excellent interpersonal, organizational and secretarial skills to fill this position.

Hours: Every other Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m

 
SECURITY

PART-TIME SECURITY OFFICER

The Security Officer would report to the Safety/Security Director, and assist in providing a safe, secure campus for residents, visitors and staff.  Duties include patrolling the campus and central buildings, investigating, handling, and reporting problems and emergencies according to departmental guidelines; working at the communications desk as needed; monitoring the parking of vehicles in restricted areas; assisting with resident needs/emergencies, and providing escort service as requested.  The position requires considerable walking, lifting and carrying of heavy objects, standing for long periods of time, and assisting residents.  Hours are 1st shift Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 am to 4:00 p.m.  Qualifications are a high school diploma, NC driver’s license, good telecommunication skills, ability to communicate well (oral and written skills required).

Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 

 
HOUSEKEEPING

HOUSEKEEPING ASSISTANT (RELIEF)

Six months to 1 year of experience; high school education.  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., walk, bend and stand for long periods of time.
