In 2002, thanks to the generous donations of many residents, Carol Woods opened a five-star Children’s Center on campus. The center, which provides day care to 64 children age two-and-a-half to five, is a resource that is enjoyed by staff and residents alike. Carol Woods staff enjoy the benefit of on-site day care with a stipend that helps pay for it. Carol Woods’ residents enjoy the intergenerational interaction the Children’s Center affords. Many residents volunteer to help with crafts, music or story time at the Children’s Center. Residents of the Health Center have to opportunity to participate in cooking and crafts with children each week. And many others enjoy the spontaneous interactions that happen when they see children out on a walk or playing near the pond.
